#407 Parabol Pets: The Paws & Claws Behind the Scenes

Friday Ship #407 | August 9th, 2024

Parabol Pets

This week I asked our team to share their favorite pet pics. While we don’t have a dedicated pet channel in slack (mostly because we like to limit the number of channels we have), we do have frequent conversations about our fury friends and plenty of pictures make it into our #fika channel.

Meet Troy, Jordan’s cat.

When Sasha and Jordan first met, she had a cat named Troy. He was barely a year old and had recently had a cast removed from his leg. Up until that point he had spent his life dragging his body around by his front paws. His front half was so over-developed he looked like a little body builder. He often could only settle down enough to sleep at night by curling up on your head. He’s 13 now, and hasn’t changed. He’s still happiest when he is with his people – even if that means joining along for a road trip or camping trip!

Here is my fur baby, Gobi.

My husband and I adopted Gobi earlier this year. His mom was rescued and taken to a no kill shelter and Gobi was one of a litter of five born at the shelter. We had no intention of adopting a puppy, but we just couldn’t resist. I’ve been sharing plenty of crazy stories lately as I forgot how much work puppies are!!

While we have the expected fun and loving domesticated dogs and cats that get plenty of 😍 emojis…

We also have some adorable chicks 🐣 and a rooster.

I love following along with Terry’s farm adventures. This latest bunch is a flock of Barred Rocks, (hybrid) Red Stars, and one school project rooster of unknown breed. His boys call him Silverwing, but Terry has a different name for him 😆. The flock was hatched in April and should start laying eggs in just a few more weeks.

And then there’s the turkeys 🦃…

Wild turkeys are regular visitors for a few of us and it still makes me laugh every time they appear in our slack channel.

Our furry (and feathered) friends are the perfect reminder to bring some fun into our workdays.

Metrics

We are feeling the seasonal effect of the “summer slump” that we typically see this time of year. Things should rebound as we head into the back to school season in the coming weeks.

This week we…

started working on a booth design in preparation for our PubSec team heading to TechNet Hawaii later this year.

made exciting progress towards our new Team Insights feature as we get closer to launching the beta.

…finalized the agenda for our upcoming Growth Team Retreat.

Next week we’ll

…wrap up our current Shape Up Cycle with a retro.
