Smoother Onboarding, Smarter Retros, and One Server to Rule Them All
#436 Mid-Cycle Demo Day
Friday Ship #436 | March 28th, 2025

This week, our product team shared mid-cycle demos in lieu of our regular weekly check-in. I always love this hour—it’s a chance to see the progress we’re making, the problems we’re solving, and the polish that’s being added behind the scenes.
Here’s a roundup of what’s shipping (or on its way):
🌐 Public Teams Are Live
Public Teams let anyone in your org discover and join relevant teams without needing an invite. Free-tier teams are public by default, and paid plans can toggle privacy.
Why it matters:
- Makes it easier to find active teams when joining a new org
- Reduces the “blank slate” feeling on first login
- Encourages team self-organization
🔐 Smarter SAML Sign-On
We’re making SAML onboarding much smoother. Now, when a new user signs in via SAML:
- They’re automatically placed in the correct org based on the SAML configuration
- Enterprise customers can now configure custom org assignments
If you’re managing a big organization (hey, Quantexa 👋), this should make IT’s job a lot easier—and reduce the chances of new users getting lost in their own personal orgs.
🧱 Retro UX: From Drafts to Blocks
We’re rethinking how reflections work during retrospectives.
Instead of a draft/submit flow, we’re exploring a block-based model (a la Notion or FigJam):
- You add cards one at a time, directly in the column
- They stick around—no more disappearing drafts
- Better visual rhythm, smoother transition between phases, and roomier, more legible card design
The goal? Fewer clicks, less friction, and more meaningful contributions. We’re still testing the details, but we’re getting closer to a retro flow that feels as intuitive as it is powerful.
👥 Enterprise Admin Love
Enterprise admins, rejoice! You’re now getting:
- Bulk user management (select and remove multiple users at once)
- Smart safeguards to prevent kicking out the last meeting lead or yourself 🙃
- Improved team sorting and visibility across large orgs
These changes lay the foundation for even more granular user and org controls in the future.
📊 Leader-Facing Reporting
Want to know which teams are sticking to their agile rituals?
We’re piloting a matrix report that shows which teams ran what kind of meetings (check-ins, retros, poker, etc.) over time. It’s a lightweight way for leaders to see engagement and adoption across their org.
🧘 GraphQL Yoga: A Simpler, Stronger Infra
Matt’s been exploring GraphQL Yoga as a potential replacement for our homegrown GraphQL executor and socket server setup.
What we like:
- Unified server = less infra complexity
- Built-in support for streaming, caching, rate-limiting
- Fewer bugs when deploying new versions (we’re looking at you, socket race conditions 👀)
This is still in the early days, but if this pans out, it could be a big step forward in stability and maintainability.
🫧 Just for Fun: Bubble Matrix Preview
Here’s a little peek at the “bubble matrix” report —showing what meetings different teams are running and when.

It might look playful, but it’s already helping us (and some of our customers) see trends, identify gaps, and improve meeting hygiene.
Metrics

The dip in traffic and engagement this week may be due to seasonal factors like spring break and end-of-quarter planning cycles. These patterns are common and likely reflect temporary shifts in user behavior rather than long-term concerns, but we will continue to monitor to see if this trend persists.
This week we…
…Cleaned up some performance issues with loading Sentry data.
…Improving the process for automatically joining an organization.
…Continued to get our Vanta Dashboard set up in prep for our SOC2 audit.
Next week we’ll
…Finalized our new Release Notes webpage so we can better highlight all the great product updates happening.
